Spruance Leader

Spruance Leader is a solitaire game placing you in command of a Cold War era US Naval Task Force!  It is the next game in the very successful DVG Leader Series!

This game is inspired by the Microprose game Red Storm Rising.  Your Task Force will be facing off against Soviet ships, subs, and aircraft from the 1980's.  You will select what Actions to perform to destroy the Soviet forces while avoiding damage and stress.

Choose which ships and Commander you want in your Task Force, place them in one of three positions in the Task Force (Screening Force, Main Force, and Protected Force), purchase ordinance, and head towards the target.  

Because this is a DVG Leader Series game, knowledge of one Leader Series game will help you learn Spruance Leader.  Some of the game characteristics that are common to the Leader games are:

• Campaigns - Campaigns identify Targets in different Campaign Map zones.  Adjust Campaign Tracks as Targets are destroyed, impacting future Missions.
• Mission Planning - Mission Planning is key to a successful mission.  Mission Planning includes selecting the ships in the Task Force and purchasing helicopters and ordinance for your ship.  
• Stress Management - Manage your ship and Commander Stress levels.
• 6 Skill Levels - Each Ship and Task Force Commander has six skill levels, with starting skill levels increasing as Experience Points (XPs) are earned.
• Random Events - Draw Event cards at the start and end of each Tactical Encounter.
• Tactical Encounters - Setup Soviet ships and subs on the Tactical Display and perform Fast and Slow Actions to destroy the Target.
